30 Makeup Mistakes To Stop Making In 2015 (Part Two)

Did you read our first 15 tips for makeup mistakes you need to correct this new year? Here are 15 more to keep you looking fresh, fabulous, and beautifully YOU!

16. Don’t overdo it. If you don’t have bad acne or severe redness, wearing too much foundation will actually make you look older. Only use a light powder on good skin days.

17. Not matching your liner to your eye shape. If your eyes are close together, the thickest part of your liner should be towards the outer corners, whereas it should be in the inner corners if your eyes are further apart.

18. Stop over-applying lipgloss. To avoid looking like youre from the early 2000s, keep your gloss to the center of your lips only. An all over gloss tends to look childish.

19. Start curling your lashes BEFORE mascara. It seems weird, but they will maintain their curl, and you’ll curb the risk of your precious lashes being ripped out by the curler once they’re wet.

20. Don’t over-exaggerate your brows. While bold is in, it looks too harsh if you try to fake thick, full brows. Stick with the hairs you have and perfect them with an appropriate shade of powder.

21. Don’t contour if you haven’t practiced. If you aren’t blending enough or placing shading in the wrong spots, it will inevitably look fake. Find a good tutorial online for your specific face shape and practice at home before taking it out for a night on the town.

22. Use a light spray if you’re going heavy on the powder. A light spritz of water will give you that dewy look while maintaining a light foundation.

23. Blend your face to your neck. If you’re foundation gives your face a slightly different color, your neck is going to show it if you don’t blend down to your neckline.

24. Don’t get crazy with your blush. Your cheeks should only have a slight pink or red tint – not a giant streak of color. Blend blend blend!

25. Be careful with your lip liner. A shade darker than your lipstick will show, and might come off as clown-ish.

26. Take time to separate your lashes before applying mascara. Doing this will avoid clumps and give a more natural volume and length.

27. Choose the best shadow for your eyes. Never try to match up your eye color to your shadows! Instead, go for the opposite. Blue eyes do well with pinks and browns, and brown eyes go with blues, purples and mahogany.

28. Don’t use too much glue with your false lashes. Instead, gently coat the rim and wait 30 seconds before pushing on your falsies.

29. Never apply matte lipsticks to dry lips. Exfoliate and keep them nourished, even if that means scrubbing off the chapped parts with an old toothbrush. Your matte stick will thank you.

30. Learn how to better hide those tired eyes. Use a liner that matches your skin shade to rim of your waterline to make redness appear to go away.
