7 Ways to Make a Strapless Bra More Comfortable

There are few things more daunting than finding the perfect shoulder-baring dress or shirt and having to debate in your mind whether or not it's worth buying to avoid the dreaded strapless-bra. A strapless bra is such a strange necessity in a woman's closet -- how is it really supposed to hold up the girls? And how are we going to enjoy our night while constantly having to push, tug and pull that one thick strap around to stay up? Fear no more, ladies. Here are seven ways to make your strapless bra nights more tolerable, so that all you have to worry about is looking fabulous.

1. Don't be scared to shy away from your normal size. A good rule for strapless is to buy one band size down, and a cup size up. This will ensure the band is nice and snug, but that everything else has room to breathe.

2. Keep your skin dry and non-slick. Avoid lotions around your chest and back to ensure no slippage with the strap. This will also help your bra stick if you choose one with silicone or rubber stickiness.

3. Always try it on before you buy it. Trying things on may be a bother, but it's crucial when choosing a strapless bra, because the size can really fluctuate from your normal cup size.

4. Buy something nice. For a good strapless bra, you really don't want to go for a cheap brand. Make sure it is constructed well and from a reputable company so that your strap doesn't snap in half at the most unexpected of times.

5. Try out longline styles. This type of strapless extends farther down the chest to give you added support. This also doubles as an extra push-up!

6. Fill in where needed. Don't be ashamed of bra-stuffing! No two breasts are perfectly symmetrical, especially in a strapless, so if you need to add a bit of padding to even things out, go for it.

7. Treat your bra with care! This goes for all bras, but especially if you're investing a bit in a good strapless. Always hand wash and air dry with cups facing upwards.
