What NOT to Wear at Your Boudoir Shoot
While we usually support a “do whatever you like” style, there are certain items that we strongly advise against for your Boudoir shoot, simply because they are almost always unflattering or don’t look good on the camera. Here are a few of our no-ways! 1. Babydoll-style dresses can look cute on the clothes rack, but for 9 out of 10 girls, they just seem to add weight and are otherwise unflattering. The way they flare out under the chest makes it seem as though you are hiding a baby bump or otherwise larger tummy. 2. Ankle-strap shoes. Mainly, these types of heels limit the poses you can pull off with your feet, and they tend to shorten up the legs in an unflattering manner. 3. Flourescent colors are almost always a “no” on camera. Go with bold colors by all means, but stray away from those that make you look like you’re going to a rave. 4. Ruffles can be cute on some, but they usually just add bulk. Because the camera can’t always make you look the exact way you do in the mirror, ruffles tend to capture light in unflattering ways and add weight to the client. 5. Bustiers are very popular in Boudoir, so we’ll tread lightly with this one – but usually, if you aren’t super tall or super skinny, they tend to shorten you up and push on areas that will give you weight where you don’t want it. Definitely try on a few other options before you settle on a bustier unless you are certain its what you want. 6. Nude-colored underwear is cute and comfortable for everyday wear, but it is just way too boring for a Boudoir shoot! Go with a fun color or sexy lace before taking out your everyday nude bra and panties.
