5 Signs You're Wearing the Wrong Bra

Bras can be a woman’s best friend or her worst enemy. With so many styles, sizes, designs and shapes to choose from, many women get overwhelmed and end up choosing the first one they see. While sometimes you can get lucky with a spur-of-the-moment decision like that, when it comes to bras, you need to step back and spend some time finding the one that’s perfect for you. Think you might be wearing the wrong size or shape? Here are a few ways to find out. 1. Does your bra move? It shouldn’t be doing that throughout the day. The band should feel firm across your back, but not so tight that it hurts. A good way to gauge this is to pull about an inch back on your band. If it gives about an inch, but not much more, your size is probably correct. 2. Does your bra sit at the middle of your back? The front and back of your bra should be evenly aligned. If your back is rising up, it means your chest isn’t being properly supported. 3. Does the underwire sit flat to your body? The wires on your bra should sit behind the bottom of your breast tissue. To check this, feel is there is any soft tissue underneath your wire. If there is, your size may be too small. 4. Are you spilling over? Your breast tissue should not fold over your bra at all. If you’ve got “four-boob” going on, go up a cup size. 5. Do your straps leave a mark? This one should be a no-brainer, but if you have imprints of your bra on your shoulders after you take it off, you need a bigger size.
