Shooting Boudoir in Hotels

For those interested in pursuing a career or hobby with Boudoir photography, here's another post just for you! When you first start out as a Boudoir photographer, you may not have a lot of venues open for shooting, or don't have your own studio ready yet. If that's the case, shooting in a hotel could be your best bet for an elegant, sexy backdrop.

The best part of shooting in hotels is that the room is already completely furnished for you, and you can choose rooms with elegant and sheek designs, sometimes for much less than you'd expect. When pricing out what to charge the client for hotel time, you can try discussing an hourly rate with the hotel owners rather than paying for a full-night's stay.

Some challenges can include check-in and check-out times, which can vary from hotel to hotel. Be sure to verify these with the hotel owners ahead of time to avoid the embarassement of a client arriving before a room is cleaned out and ready to be checked in to. If you decide to rent a room for the entire night, try booking multiple shoots, including one in the morning before check out time to get your money's worth.

A very important part of shooting in hotels is clarifying with the manager that you can post photos online with their backgrounds included, since it is for a business. You don't necesarily have to tell them that you're shooting Boudoir, just that you're a photographer on business.
