5 Business Plan Tips for Aspiring Photographers

If you’re considering starting your own Boudoir photography business, you’ll need a solid business plan before you get off the ground. 1. Form a mission statement. Make a clear, concise statement of what you want to accomplish so you have an easier way to follow your goals. Make a long list of what you want to include, then slowly cut it down to a perfect, clear goal. 2. Decide exactly what products and services you do and don’t want to offer. There are many options in the world of photography, and you don’t need to offer them all if you don’t want to. Choose the services you know you’ll dedicate yourself to, and make those the best they can be. 3. Set your financial goals. Starting your own business gives you the unique opportunity to aim as high as you’d like for a financial goal, but you have to make sure to work hard for it. Do lots of researching to ensure your prices are competitive, fair and reasonable, but make sure they’re high enough to cover all the surprise costs that may come up. 4. Set your goals for number and type of shoots. If you don’t think you could do three shoots in one weekend, don’t offer that as a service. If you’re confident you could knock out multiples in one day, go for it! Just be logical and don’t set your goals so high that they’re unreachable. 5. Visualize! Visualize! Visualize! Set your vision for what you want your company to be, where you want to see it go in a few years, and how you want your customers to feel, and stick to it! Having a straightforward vision is key.
